Which is the fastest car in India? To answer this question we need to consider critical aspects such as road conditions, highway conditions, traffic, speed limit, etc. It is not recommended to drive past the speed limit since the roads are designed specifically for that speed.

However, there are some roads where you can cruise around 120km/hr. There are few express highways where the speed limit can range from 160km/hr to 180km/hr. There are very few cars in India that can achieve these speeds without breaking a sweat carrying more than 4 people with AC no.

If you are a car enthusiast who enjoys driving and got bored with the current powertrain offered by all the major car manufacturers to some point all the cars look the same and deliver almost similar power. In the automobile Industry, we are moving backward in terms of engine development. Gone are the days of developing the most powerful engines such as V10, V8, V6, Inline-6, and Inline-5 cylinders.

Car manufacturers in India are offering only 4-cylinder and 3-cylinder petrol and diesel-powered engines

Technological Advancements

The advent of turbocharging and direct fuel injection has transformed the capabilities of 4-cylinder engines. These technologies boost power and torque, providing comparable performance to V8 engines while maintaining fuel efficiency. Modern 4-cylinder engines are no longer associated solely with small, underpowered cars; they power a wide range of vehicles, including sports cars and SUVs.

Changing Consumer Preferences

Consumers’ preferences have shifted towards smaller, more compact vehicles that are easier to maneuver in urban environments. 4-cylinder engines align with this trend, as they allow for more space-efficient vehicle designs without compromising power. They also contribute to a smoother and quieter driving experience.

Cost Savings

Manufacturing 4-cylinder engines is generally more cost-effective than producing V8 engines. The reduced complexity and size of 4-cylinder engines translate to lower production costs, which can be passed on to consumers, making vehicles more affordable.

Conclusion: The Rise of the 4-Cylinder Engine

The gradual replacement of V8 engines with 4-cylinder engines represents a significant paradigm shift in the automotive industry. This transition is not just about meeting regulatory standards but also aligning with consumer preferences for efficiency and sustainability. As technology continues to advance, 4-cylinder engines will likely become even more powerful and efficient, further solidifying their place as the engines of the future.

The new trend for Indian bikers in today’s generation is the 500 cc segment. They love zippy drive, pocket-friendly, and fuel efficient. I remember back in 2000 we had multiple options in the 250 cc segment. How remarkable it is to zip through traffic and all those bumps and potholes especially puddles in the rainy season.

Naked bikes are the new style for beginner’s and novice bikers who doesn’t want the hassle of maintenance and spare parts rarity. We have listed the top 5 naked bikes which are swinging in the Indian market.

  1. Royal Enfield Hunter 350

Royal Enfield team has introduced a couple of bikes under the 400 CC segment. Do not underestimate their looks as they seem very nimble in plain sight, however, they pack a punch. Their latest offering is “Hunter”. A new naked bike from the team which has a refreshing look not at all similar to their siblings and a new 400 CC engine give this puppy a serious look.

Let us take a look at the specs

2. Harley Davidson 400x

It is a surprise for all Harley lovers and a dream come true to see them offering a 440 cc bike in India. Harley Davidson along with the partnership with Hero has designed a new engine and a bold look. Do not judge the bike by its hero badge and looks, Harley and Hero has done a decent job in designing this bike.

Max torque: 38nm @4000 rpm

3. Triumph 400

Triumph latest launch speed 400 shares its stable with its rival siblings Dominor 400 and KTM 390. Research and development team had done a decent job keeping the design simple and the only difference which keeps it different from its siblings is the chain drive placement to the left which means it has got all new gearbox.

Triumph and Bajaj has done a wonderful job with a keen eye to attention to the details. Nuts, bolts and joints look very premium and it does justice to the price tag.

Max power: 40bhp@8000 rpm

Ktm has the track record of winning 5 dakkar rally championships. Its hard to tell that KTMs are reliable and safe motor cycle in Indian roads given the amount of accidents that happened in India. They are quick and snappy.

KTM 390 sometimes feels over powered by its grunt and looks. It comes will all new instrumental cluster with ips display, however it lacks navigation feature, it comes with slipper clutch, dual channel ABS, projector headlamps and wide tyers for extra grip. You can enjoy the zippy drive however one downside of its super power engine is heat.

It is difficult to ride in city roads with excess heat pumping on your legs, its advisable to wear the gear at all times while riding. The most powerful bike in the list is KTM and my personal favourite.

Max torque: 37nm @7000 rpm

Max power: 43.5 bhp @9000 rpm

Tracking the performance of the batteries and optimizing it to retain maximum efficiency is an integral part of testing. Adapting to rigid tools and generating credible results is immensely essential before delivering the product.

“Testing a product is a learning success” – Brian Marick

Batteries are the most important power source in all electronic devices. From cars to hand-held devices it acts like a heart without which the devices are as good as dead. Hence it is the principal responsibility to perform tests in different environments using credible tools till we achieve conclusive results. Batteries can be split into two different categories i.e. High voltage and low voltage. Let us understand the importance of battery emulators.

How low voltage batteries are tested using a battery emulator

A battery emulator is a technical device that serves several functions in tracking the performance of the battery.

By connecting it directly to the battery you can control the output voltage supplied to the battery and track the charging performance in different environmental conditions. You can mimic the real-time conditions by adjusting the channel voltage to alternate and direct current. The output results of the testing can be used to optimize to improve the efficiency which prolongs the life cycles of the battery.

How battery emulator helps in testing high voltage batteries in the automobile industry.

High voltage batteries undergo complex algorithms and testing methods to gauge the performance and efficiency of the battery.

Automobile batteries are high voltage and consist of several modules and each module is a fusion of hundreds of low voltage batteries. The power train of the automobile places an important role in utilizing the battery source and there are two different types of power trains available in the market which are electric and hybrid.

Hybrid and electric batteries are both tested in a similar fashion using the advanced battery emulator which replicates the charger unit and inputs the desired amount of voltage powering up the batteries.

Using DC power to control the power trains and test the performance is not credible and is subjected to inaccurate results. Hence using the emulator which is powered by AC and can be adjusted the voltage based on the input and capability of the battery. You can have complete control and observe the improbable events and performance of the battery in various environmental conditions.

The battery simulator has programmable voltage and current controls for resistance simulations. You can test and view hundreds of results for different battery designs and modules, which helps to improve the powertrain performance.

Hope this article helps to understand the concept of a battery emulator and how it improves battery life and efficiency.

This article is helpful if you are looking to buy a used car which gives value to your money, and does not compromise in power.

The used car market is very competitive and has many choices. There are so many risks involved and only a gamble. If you spend time in research and follow a thorough inspection, it is possible to score a decent vehicle that is reliable and yet meets your needs.

In this article, we have listed the top 7 petrol cars which are often available under 4 lacs depending upon the condition and the year of registration.

*Note: The order of the vehicle is completely random, no 1 car does not mean it is superior in the list and vice versa.

  1. Hyundai i10 BSIV

Hyundai’s mid-level compact SUV is powered by 4 cylinders 4 valve engine, which is very snappy and never lets you feel underpowered. Feature-rich interiors and spacious cabin space are comfortable for a small family of 4 who are looking to buy their first car.

You can get a BS4 variant of i10 in the used car market from 4 to 5 lakhs, it depends upon the variant and the mileage of the car. Do a thorough inspection of interiors and exteriors. Looks can be deceptive sometimes and a good-looking car might have a bad engine and vice versa.

2. Maruti Ritz

Maruti has launched Ritz along with his twin sibling Swift into the fleet. Both the cars share the same 1197 Engine which produces good low-end torque and power. Wish Maruti should have upgraded it to VVT technology increases power and returns decent mileage.

3. Honda Brio

Cutest and most handsome car on the list. Don’t make it looks deceive you as it is powered by a 1197 cc natural aspirated engine which delivers 87 bhp @ 6000 rpm. The downside of the vehicle is the part’s availability. Honda has long discontinued this car and never discussed the relaunch of this vehicle. You can score this decent look car below 4 lakhs in good condition.

4. VW Polo

The only German car on the list which is known for its build quality and safety. It is powered by 3 cylinder engine with 4 valves and produces 73.9bhp at 5400rpm. Mileage is the only concern as it returns less than 12 kmpl in the city and 14 kmpl on highways. You can score a decent-condition car below 3.5 lakhs for a BS4 variant.

5. Maruti Swift

Maruti’s hot hatch has turned so many heads around during its launch. With its sporty looks and snappy VVT engine which produces 82 bhp at 6000 rpm may sound a little underpowered compared to Ritz, however with its Variable Value Transmission, it has a decent initial pickup and low-end torque of 113 Nm@ at 4200 rpm gives it a better edge to its twin sibling.
